Why United Way?

Helping our Neighbors and Yours

We are donating 100% of the net proceeds from our Catholics vs. Corona t-shirts to the United Way COVID-19 Community Response and Recovery Fund. United Way works to solve underlying social problems that contribute to cyclical poverty, many of which have been magnified in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. When children from low-income families lack access to healthy meals, food pantries are overwhelmed, and unemployment increases, United Way steps in to mitigate suffering and provide aid to those who need it most.

Because we call South Bend home for eight months of the year, and we know that many of you reserve a special place in your heart for the area, half of our donations will go directly to the St. Joseph County COVID-19 Relief Fund. Just like many others during this time, the people of St. Joseph County are struggling, and the problem is exacerbated by the loss of one of the county's main sources of economic activity with the closing of the University of Notre Dame. If you would like to donate directly to United Way of St. Joseph County, here is the link: https://uwsjc.org/covid-19-response-2/ . If you are willing, please send us a receipt of your donation, just so we can track the total amount we have raised.

However, Catholics vs. Corona is not just a Notre Dame effort, nor is it even a specifically Catholic one—it’s for everybody. With that said, the other half of our donations will go to United Way’s nationwide relief efforts. With the purchase of a Catholics vs. Corona t-shirt, you’re contributing both to the people of St. Joseph County and to those struggling in your own communities. You’re helping our neighbors and yours, one shirt at a time.
